nice fragments... i see those tear-off flyers alot around here too, where everything is torn off save for the part under the tape, heh. i like this series. i think im going to get out and shoot some photos of similar fragments soon.

I tear down and trash the fliers myself. I consider them litter.

A few months ago, I was at the bus stop, when this punk started stapling up flyers for Diet Pills. Of dubious efficacy. I am a biochemist, and a general loud-mouthed asshole, so I immediately called him on his bullshit. Less than polite conversation followed; I kept one hand on the knife in my pocket. I informed him that I would make it my mission in life to remove every flyer he posted. He decided to "wait me out," since I was already late to work and had to take the next bus. But I returned that evening and tore every one down and shredded them with my hands.

elaine: crikey, i won't mess with you

i don't mind most posters, but increasingly postering is getting co-opted by big corporations with glossy mega-posters covering whole stretches of construction boardwalks. it's disgusting, and odd that they can get away with such blatant disregard of the city by-laws. unfortunately it all gets lumped together.

in toronto, for the last decade or so, there's been a never-ending round of threats from the city to enact a tough anti-postering by-law that would put an end to virtually all postering, whether private sane individuals or evil companies. a great group in toronto called the toronto public space committee has successfully stymied any efforts so far. unfortunately, fighting for postering generally means protecting the big ugly corporate ones too. i have a few anti-corporate revenge plots swimming around my head now, but i'm not gonna post them in a public forum.

i also heard today that there is a beer doing stencil tagging here. there is a style of poster which is really hard to tell if it's art or just a clever marketing ploy. invasive

never woulda guessed you were either a loud mouth or a biochemist ;)
