Dead Meter Cap

the city of portland has gone about replacing all the old coin operated parking meters with electronic ones. the new ones are only one per block, not one per parking space...and they take credit cards...and they've eliminated the capacity to feed other people's meters or snag time on a meter still running. so the old ones have been pulled out, leaving 4" circular scars up and down the sidewalks downtown. and someone has taken this opportunity to paint tiny portraits

$1 / hour, sigh...

fuzzytank: so are all the figures the TV headded guy?

Peter: 20th May 2005 - 13:36 GMT

at first I was like "1$/hour?! geez!" then i thought... here in nyc its 25 cents/15 minutes... which equals $1/hour... doh!

cars are expensive. thats why i ride my bike as much as possible- it can be parked almost anywhere :)

Jamie: 20th May 2005 - 14:52 GMT

Yeah, for now. Wait till some meat-headed bureaucrat starts seeing dollar signs in your spokes.

Peter: 20th May 2005 - 14:55 GMT

heh, totally. i did get two $100 tickets for runnign two red-lights on my bike once. which is ludicrous, as to do the same in a car would only rack up $45 each. hmm!

ea: 20th May 2005 - 16:09 GMT

haha my dad's received two 'moving violations' on his bike too - for failing to stop at stop signs in residential neighborhoods - gah!

I saw another meter cap character that was blue, and I dont think it was TV Head, but I canNOT remember where. I've been walking with my head down the last couple weeks trying to find him.

kobe: cycling tickets? what has america come to?

btw, thanks, cause i hate waiting...

Jess: 9th Sep 2005 - 04:41 GMT

That's what I figured it would be. Way to go on cheap advertising. You know people go in search just to find out what the image is all about.

Jamie: 19th Oct 2005 - 16:10 GMT

Thanks Jess. I didn't get it till you explained
